Vervet monkeys, also known as green cercopithecines, are known for their sophisticated social behaviour. The mother carries her baby at all times, usually clinging to her belly or back. This constant carrying not only ensures the baby's safety, but also easy access to food and integration into the social life of the group. The baby clings tightly to its mother's coat, allowing it to move with her and adapt quickly to its environment. This physical closeness strengthens the mother-child bond and allows the baby to feel protected and supported during the first few months of life. Babies suckle frequently during the first few months of life and rely heavily on breast milk for nutrition and growth.
