In the safari world, the Big Five does not necessarily refer to the largest animals, but to those most feared by hunters in colonial times. The term refers to the five most difficult animals to hunt on foot:
- The lion : King of the savannah, it embodies power and majesty.
- The elephant : An encounter with this imposing giant is unforgettable.
- The Rhinoceros : With its sturdy hide and prehistoric appearance, it commands respect.
- The buffalo : Known for its strength and unpredictability.
- The Leopard : The master of stealth, so cunning and discreet that it's hard to spot.
