With its finer stripes and large rounded ears, the Grévy's zebra stands out from other zebra species. Recognizable by its unique coat and large size, it is one of the rarest zebras in Africa. Unlike its cousins, it prefers arid and semi-arid areas.
In the photos, you can observe a distinct black line along its back, a characteristic that differentiates it from the plains zebra, whose line is generally less pronounced.

You will also notice that the zebra seems to be making a funny face with its lips. This is actually a behavior called the Flehmen response, where the zebra curls its lips to better analyze smells in the air (often to detect the presence of other animals or potential mates).
